== History == Metribolone was first described in the literature in 1965. It was studied clinically in the late 1960s and early 1970s, most notably in the treatment of advanced breast cancer. The drug was found to be effective and showed weak androgenicity, but also produced severe signs of hepatotoxicity, and was ultimately never marketed. By the mid-1970s, metribolone was becoming an accepted standard as a ligand and agonist of the AR in scientific research. It remains in wide use for this purpose today. Aside from scientific research, metribolone has also been encountered as an AAS in non-medical contexts, for instance in doping in sports and bodybuilding.

It was found that the existing data on rutherfordium-261 was for an isomer, now designated rutherfordium-261m. In May 2009, the JWP reported on the claims of discovery of element 112 again and officially recognized the GSI team as the discoverers of element 112. This decision was based on the confirmation of the decay properties of daughter nuclei as well as the confirmatory experiments at RIKEN.
== Controversies == A lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in 2012 after lead plaintiff Roderick Smith discovered a peeping Tom spy camera nestled in the u-bend of the sink in an Encino, California café in October 2011. Smith said after he noticed the device inside the bathroom's unisex facilities, he immediately told management at the shop but was told the camera looked more like a flash drive, according to Smith's attorney Brian Kabateck. In a statement the company said: “We believe that our cooperation helped lead to the arrest of the suspect. In light of the pending litigation surrounding this matter, we are unable to comment further at this time.” The Singapore chain of Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf apologized in 2019 for a blunder in its original promotional artwork to mark SAF Day, which seemed to depict a Chinese soldier in uniform rather than Singapore Armed Forces.

== Uses == In February 2010, the Food and Drug Administration of the United States approved Xiaflex for the treatment of Dupuytren's contracture. It is the first approved nonsurgical treatment for this condition. In a case of Dupuytren's contracture, collagen accumulates in the palmar fascia of the hands, so that the fingers cannot be straightened. A similar phenomenon occurs in Peyronie's disease, a contracture of the penis.
